Financial Aid Newsletter

June - Issue #3

Welcome to the 3rd edition of the Financial Aid Newsletter for International and Study Abroad Students brought to you by IEFA.org, InternationalScholarships.com and InternationalStudentLoan.com.

In this month’s letter we have great news for international students who want to study in Canada, information on finding a loan without a cosigner in the USA, and guidance for US students looking to study abroad.

Whether you’re an international student seeking an opportunity to study in the USA, or an American student studying abroad, we believe our financial aid sites will help you find the resources you need in your search for international scholarships and loans.

Sincerely,
The International Financial Aid Team

International Student Loans for Studying in Canada

The International Student Loan search tool now includes loans for students from around the world studying in Canada! Until now it has been very difficult for international students to fund their education in the Great White North, but now there are a number of schools in Canada where loans are available without a cosigner. Use our loan finder tool to see if your Canadian school is one of the select universities where these loans are available.

No Cosigner Loans for International Students in the USA

Although most international student loan applications require a cosigner, international students attending a select few colleges and universities in the US and Canada are able to apply for a loan without one.

With no cosigner loans, instead of looking at credit history, lenders look at your academic success and career path, as well as other factors when assessing you for the loan. Some of the factors they will consider when you apply include your home country, graduation date, and what school you attend.

Understanding Student Loan Terms

Turning to a student loan can be a great way to help fill the financial aid gap when trying to fund your education. Although helpful, student loans can also be very confusing! If you need help making sense of loans, explore our guide on student loan terms. There you can learn more on interest rates, repayment and different types of loans.

Study Abroad Loans

US students planning to study abroad through a US college or university are eligible for student loans, no matter where in the world your travels take you. Learn more about the process and find out if you are eligible.
